Angus Matheson

Angus is a partner in the firm and has responsibility for heading the Commercial Department. He was educated at Inverness Royal Academy and Aberdeen University, where he gained a MA LLB degree in 1974. Having qualified as a solicitor in 1976 he became a partner of Burnett & Reid in 1979. He is also a Notary Public.

Angus specialises in advising clients on all aspects of commercial and corporate work and acts for clients operating in a diverse range of industries, including in the Healthcare, Construction, Oil & Gas, Transport, Catering, and Retail sectors. He has broad experience of advising in connection with commercial property, commercial leasing, corporate acquisitions and sales, company management, franchises, partnerships and commercial contracts.

Established clients include:

• One of Scotland’s largest independent care home operating groups
• The longest established removal and transport business in the UK
• A leading Aberdeen bakery chain with 15 outlets in the city and shire
• A number of well known Oil and Gas service companies
• Numerous local and family businesses including medical partnerships, pharmacists, property developers, tradesmen, double glazing companies, and fish merchants.

Angus is married with 5 grown up children. Away from work he enjoys watching and participating in all types of sports, in particular golf and rugby. He is a past President of Gordonians RFC and past Chairman of the Seafield Club.
