Private Client work is the term often used to describe the legal work lawyers do for individual clients, which sometimes involves the preparation of documents, and sometimes involves looking after their money. Generally it covers the following work:

• Will writing
• Preparing Powers of Attorney and registering them with the Office of the Public Guardian
• Tax planning (including identifying your estate for tax purposes)
• Preparing Trusts – including those with charitable intent and those to protect vulnerable beneficiaries
• Advising on tax-effective giving and organising and documenting gifts
• Advising on succession rights (including the legal rights of children, spouses and civil partners)
• Advising cohabitees on their rights on the death of their partner
• Acting as Attorney or Guardian to look after your finances, where there is no family member or friend able to assist you
