Our Story

Eight years before Mozart began entertaining the world with his music, Burnett & Reid was already supporting the people of Aberdeen. Founded in 1754, we began by advising individuals, families, and landowners in coffee houses and courtrooms, opening our first formal office in Aberdeen in 1815; the same year that saw Napoleon’s defeat at the Battle of Waterloo.

Proudly serving communities across the North East of Scotland for over two and a half centuries, we have grown into one of Scotland’s longest-established legal firms, relocating to Golden Square in 1905, and most recently to our new office on Albyn Place following a successful 2024 merger with two respected Aberdeen firms: Gavin Bain & Company and Taggart, Meil Mathers.

We’ve built lasting relationships with generations of farming and landowning families across the region, a tradition that continues today. While our services have developed to meet the demands of modern life, our commitment to integrity, personal service, and deep local knowledge remains unchanged. Today, we proudly serve clients from our offices in Aberdeen and Banchory, alongside our dedicated Property Shop on Union Street.
